At National Life Group,
At National Life Group, we are a mission-driven and purposed-filled business. The cause of what we do is as important as the life insurance and retirement products we sell. And our cause is directed at the people who live and work on America’s Main Streets: To Do good in our communities and with the individual families we serve.
For 174 years, we have aimed to keep our promises to provide families stability in good times and in bad. And throughout that history, we have provided peace of mind to those families as they plan their futures.
Our employees lead the effort to Do good, Be good, and Make good through their 40 paid volunteer hours and matching contributions, as well as the meaningful work they do every day.
Culture and Values
All companies have a culture, for better or worse. We think ours is better because it’s deeply rooted in our values of do good, be good and make good. It has been since 1848. Our culture is driven by our values, by our purpose.
Our mission is keeping our promises.
Our vision is to bring peace of mind to everyone we touch.
Our culture is something we take very seriously, because when a company has a purpose-driven culture, those who work there know why they do. That’s why we proudly call ourselves Do Gooders.
We even developed twelve Servant Leadership Tenets based on our mission, vision and values. These tenets act as guideposts to the work we do every day.
- We inspire others to do their best and be their best selves.
- We seize the opportunity to provide timely, constructive coaching when the situation arises.
- We demonstrate respect for others.
- We say what we mean.
- We empower others to make good decisions.
- We respectfully disagree with others without fear of consequences.
- We value an inclusive, diverse culture.
- We invite debate on business issues and encourage others to speak their minds.
- We hold each other accountable.
- We consistently deliver high quality service.
- We are committed to making National Life Group a better place to work.
- We model our servant leadership values.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Respect All: We support a culture that incorporates diverse community perspectives into everyday work. We seek to understand differences, listen to and value the views of others, and celebrate our authentic selves.
LifeChanger of the Year
LifeChanger of the Year, an annual program funded and run by National Life Group and its Foundation, recognizes and rewards K-12 educators and school employees from around the country.
Each year, LifeChanger of the Year awards 16 educators and their schools with cash prizes. The Grand Prize is $10,000.
We all know at least one educator who stands out from the crowd. There are millions of teachers, principals, administrative assistants, superintendents, custodians, nurses, bus drivers and coaches in our schools who are making a profound difference in the lives of our children.
LifeChanger of the Year aims to honor those who are making a significant difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership. Our program offers a platform for schools and communities to celebrate their LifeChangers.
Nominating an educator or school employee is quick and easy. The impact it has on that LifeChanger is powerful.

Do Good Fest
Celebrating good music, good vibes, and good causes
National Life isn’t your grandfather’s life insurance company: since 2014, except during the pandemic, National Life has been hosting the Do Good Fest, a free summer concert to benefit Branches of Hope, a fund that provides financial support to cancer patients with expenses, from groceries to gas money.
National Life Group Foundation
Do good. Be good. Make good.
At National Life, we believe strong connections are the ties of strong communities. We also believe being a good corporate citizen is about more than writing checks. It’s about listening to the needs of our community and offering to help however we can.
